This is fossil clam with Golden Calcite crystals. Has nicely crystallized sections of golden calcite with dogtooth formations. With the right lighting, iridescent colors come off the calcite towards the center. The clams, also known as Mercenaria Permanganate, is around 1.8 to 2 million years old. From Rucks Pit near Okeechobee, Florida.
Mangrove trees that grew for many years over the limestone helped to leach out the calcite into the lower level of fossilized clams and other shells. A wild combination of time, minerals, plants, and animals that gives us these excellent minerals!
